Apple drops the Computer, from its name that is

Friday, January 12 2007

The iPhone hype has obfuscated everything else on the web (I was tempted to say in the world). One thing, which sounds quite enlightening to me is the brand name change, from Apple Computer, Inc. to Apple Inc.

The only one mentioning this, even if just as a note, is kottke.org; browsing the Apple web site, you'll se the footer changed accordingly, everywhere the copyright line has the new brand name:

Copyright © 2007 Apple Inc. All rights reserved.

Everywhere but the Apple Executive Profiles page, at least this is the only page I found with the old brand:

Copyright © 2006 Apple Computer, Inc. All rights reserved.

This obviously could be for different reasons, such as this is the only page not to depend on a CMS template. But with Apple you always tend to find the romantic explanation in everything.

It should be quite clear now, some hardcore Apple computer geek around?, how core business computers are for Apple. Obviously, this is my humble opinion. ;)
