Carolus Linnaeus was born 300 years ago (the 23rd of May) in Råshult, Sweden, from a protestant vicar named Nils Linnaeus. Linnaeus scientific work could be considered as the starting point of the Binomial Nomenclature a formal naming standard used in natural sciences.
