99.9% of SEO, SEO blogs, and books, and seminars, and lectures are just plain CRAP!

And if you are reading this chances are I'm quite right. Stop spending your money for SEO consultancy, and stop spending your time reading those "SEO experts" blogs. I mean, just look at their faces...

Google Ads wants you to search for advertisement

Discovered through the pages of this blog, a brand new Google AdSense item. Basically it allows users to search for advertisement, that is users are asked to enter a search term into a classic search input box, hit the button (this having some kind of rendering problem) and land on a result page made up of ads. Sounds stupid, but who knows...

See the following image and video to find out what I'm talking about here.

Speed Top Ranking: Rank among the first search results among millions in a couple of days

Another chapter on Search Engine Optimization and speed ranking on Google. Just an example of how web content optimization, and some web 2.0 cross posting may help your site to rank among the first results among millions in a very short time.

Music has the power

Lately I've attended two music festivals in Barcelona, Spain. The Primavera Sound and Sonar, there I saw a couple of bands, among the others Sonic Youth, White Stripes, Blonde Redhead, Modest Mouse, Beastie Boys, Patty Smith, and took some pictures of their shows.

Yahoo Wii page is cool, the whole Yahoo web strategy is a mess

Yahoo has a page dedicated to Wii, the Nintendo video game console, which is quite cool since it's rich in web 2.0 content, user generated or not, and really looks like Yahoo is now a completely different experience. Like it's web 2.0 for them too. And that's the problem.

Brand without a clue

The Wii page on Yahoo is interesting as it's full of external, user generated content such as Flickr images, tags Wii-related from Del.icio.us and MyWeb, features stories, and useful links. The following is the Wii - Yahoo! Games page screen shot.

Wii - Yahoo! Games, page screen shot

Now, this page is nice, it has enough web 2.0 features to make you reach the informations you were looking for, you can actually be part of the content as you as a user could be an active user of this very same page. The problems start if you look at the big Yahoo picture, it's web presence that is.

SEO on a budget: save your money and rank 1st among 100,000,000 results on Google

As previously posted here, SEO, SEM, and a lot of vaporware, you can save a lot of money and obtain way more results if you implement your own SEO strategy instead of putting your business in the hands of someone's not even good at doing her own web site.

I'm targetting this post mainly at small/medium business with a limited budget available to promote their online presence. Obviously the following is a free and easy approach you should consider even if you are Fortune 500 company and plenty of money to waste. Also consider this applies mainly to Google, but let's be honest, there's just one search engine out there.

In the long run cinema wins against products. Or how marketing still is a sprinter, not a marathon runner

An interesting piece on metromix.com about movies second life or how movies life is not set in their early, promotional and marketing pumped-up, glory days. Really worth a reading:

What is content optimization. And why it might help you improve your SEO

I was reading the web statistics for this very blog, tonight, and I found out that somebody's reached it by searching for what is content optimization. I'm using Google Analytics as the stats application for my blog. It's a free tool offered by the folks at Google, it's quite easy to understand (talking about the basics) while still providing plenty of informations and in-depth data.

Ranking 31st among 68,700,000 Google search results

This is how my blog ranks if you look for that specific text string. And this is all about web content optimization, in the broadest sense of the term.
