Recycle is Re-Usable in Barcelona

Saturday, March 10 2007

Barcelona, Spain, authorities sent me and my neighbours (and I guess all the town residents) a bag containing three re-usable bags to be used to differentiate and recycle home garbage. The idea, quite obviously, is a nice one; also the packaging and marketing of the initiative is great, together with the usability of the explanation for the bags use. The container bag depicts the three colored mascottes representing the three main different waste disposals: green is for glass, blue is for paper, yellow is for plastics and cans. The back of the same bag as a detailed explanation of each bag use, a map with the green points where to get rid of specific waste types such as paints, batteries, tapes, x-rays, oils. There's also the contact number and the web site address for the metropolitan waste agency. Inside the three different bags. 3 bags on Flick - (external link) Then every bag has a front with its mascotte, and a back with the detailed list of the kind of waste its supposed to be used for. An example is given together with the whole pack as it's suggested to throw away the container bag in the yellow (plastics) bag. Part of this campaign's consistinting in fridge magnets using the above mascottes. fridge magnets Note: sorry for the photo quality. If you find the language quite strange it's because isn't spanish, it's catalan.
