Music has the power

Lately I've attended two music festivals in Barcelona, Spain. The Primavera Sound and Sonar, there I saw a couple of bands, among the others Sonic Youth, White Stripes, Blonde Redhead, Modest Mouse, Beastie Boys, Patty Smith, and took some pictures of their shows.

SEO on a budget: save your money and rank 1st among 100,000,000 results on Google

As previously posted here, SEO, SEM, and a lot of vaporware, you can save a lot of money and obtain way more results if you implement your own SEO strategy instead of putting your business in the hands of someone's not even good at doing her own web site.

I'm targetting this post mainly at small/medium business with a limited budget available to promote their online presence. Obviously the following is a free and easy approach you should consider even if you are Fortune 500 company and plenty of money to waste. Also consider this applies mainly to Google, but let's be honest, there's just one search engine out there.

What is content optimization. And why it might help you improve your SEO

I was reading the web statistics for this very blog, tonight, and I found out that somebody's reached it by searching for what is content optimization. I'm using Google Analytics as the stats application for my blog. It's a free tool offered by the folks at Google, it's quite easy to understand (talking about the basics) while still providing plenty of informations and in-depth data.

Ranking 31st among 68,700,000 Google search results

This is how my blog ranks if you look for that specific text string. And this is all about web content optimization, in the broadest sense of the term.

SEO, SEM, and a lot of vaporware

There's a service on LinkedIn called Answers. Any LinkedIn user may post a question and get answers from other users; everybody's may give his own advice, suggest links or the name of a supposed expert on the topic proposed. What happens, as everywhere there's a free-not-moderated-everybody-get-in access (which is ok), is the signal-to-noise ratio is quite in favour of noise. For the very peculiarities of LinkedIn everybody's looking to stand out of the crowd, or to promote his own business. Which, again, is ok. As long as you have something intelligent, and honest, to say and you're really trying to give out a tip to somebody's that maybe really need some help.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION IS TOO EXPENSIVE for small office & home office’s websites. Any advices?

This is the question asked. A very interesting question, since it touches a common problem to lots of small/on a budget business in a global and more and more competitive digital business world. I don't know why, but SEO looks to me one of those fields where sharks are more common. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Better blog communication: stealing the books titling tactics to help readers and improve SEO

Fine tune your blog posts titles looking at what's happening with books

There are few doubts that titles in blog posts have a big merit in optimizing your blog communication. The title of a blog post is the first part of the content, usually the bigger in terms of font size, and the one that a (human) reader first look at in search of what's the post about, the same applies to a machine reader such as an RSS feed aggregator.

Also, as part of a wider web content optimization, titles are important in terms of SEO politics, provided you follow web standards and a semantic approach and assign them the correct <H(n)> tag.

From 0 to 8th in 26 days and two posts (how to reach the top ten among 45,500,000 results of SEO resources)

It's all about ranking in the first ten results among 45,500,000 in 26 days and two blog posts

Take this as an example for my posts series on SEO. The posts I'm referring to are: The ultimate killing SEO weapon is your content, and how you use it (part I) and The ultimate killing SEO weapon is your content, and how you use it (part II) where I try to demonstrate how a mix of interesting, well formatted content together with web standards and semantic tactics might help your SEO strategy and increase your search engine ranking.
