About the cloud index
This cloud index is a tag cloud, that is the visual rappresentation of a list of tags as a cloud (of terms) functioning as an index. You can think of it as an A-Z index of the terms used to file posts in this blog.
The same term could be associated to more than one post, that is selecting the term SEO will return a page with the teaser (an extract) of all the post that have that term associated. In the same way, every post could have more terms associated to itself. The above tag cloud is composed by the tags used to index this blog content, the part of the tags you find at the end of every post.
Among the terms listed at the end of each post there are also terms corresponding to the category it is associated with. Categories are listed on the menu you find in the first column on the right of this text. In the cloud index above categories tags are not represented, since the blog navigation through topics is already present as a stand alone menu, their role to represent a general concept.
The tags feeding the above tag cloud are visually improved with the well know tagadelic approach: bigger sized terms are the one with the most occurrences. In the above cloud this is done also with the help of colors.
Controlled Folksnomy
The tags populating the cloud are not part of a an open folksonomy, that is they have not been supplied by users (users as opposed to content authors), while instead being part of this blog controlled folksonomy.
For controlled folksonomy I'm thinking here of a folksonomy controlled, that is restricted, to the authority of the same content author (that's me, in this case). Controlled folksonomy does not have here the meaning of a controlled vocabulary. Terms are added as free tagging, not selected from a closed list.
The cloud index uses Drupal's Tagadelic module.
